Movie tie-ins are nothing new. Whether that be video games, theme parks or a wide range of merchandise, but one you may not have considered is slot games.
There are a huge number of slot games tied to much-loved movie franchises, allowing players to interact with their favourite characters and elements of much-loved films on casino sites.
Here, we run down our top five slot games based on classic movies.
- Ghostbusters Plus
The first Ghostbusters film, on which the Ghostbusters Plus slot game is based, was originally released in 1984.
It is now considered one of the first blockbusters of the modern era and has spawned numerous spin-offs and merchandise.
There were three Ghostbusters sequels, the most recent of which came in March last year, while Paul Feig directed a reboot with a female cast in 2016.
The Ghostbusters Plus slot game has images of the original cast, including Bill Murray’s Peter Venkman and Dan Akroyd’s Ray Stantz and a recognisable soundtrack, while bonus rounds feature the iconic ghosts like Slimer.
- Gladiator: Road To Rome

The Ridley Scott epic, Gladiator, was released to wide acclaim in 2000, winning five Oscars, including best picture and best actor for Russell Crowe’s portrayal of Maximus.
A sequel was long discussed but was finally released in November of last year with Paul Mescal in the lead role, and while it was not a box office flop, it left many fans disappointed.
So, if you are missing the action of the original Gladiator, the Gladiator: Road To Rome slot game is a great option.
Here, you will find the slot framed by the Colosseum, and it features images of the original cast, such as Connie Nielsen’s Lucilla and Oliver Reed’s Antonius Proximo, as well as generic shadowed gladiators.
- The Mummy Books Of Amun Ra

The Mummy premiered in 1999 and was followed by two sequels, a prequel, The Scorpion King and an unsuccessful reboot in 2017 starring Tom Cruise in the lead role.
Like ancient Rome, ancient Egypt is a very popular theme for slot games, so it is no surprise that The Mummy has been turned into one.
The Mummy Books Of Amun Ra is very similar to Gladiator: Road To Rome.Â
The slot game is framed by the inside of a pyramid with characters like Brendan Fraser as Rick O’Connell making an appearance alongside the eponymous Book Of Amun Ra, a key feature of the original trilogy.
- The Goonies

Released in 1985, The Goonies follows the five main characters in their quest to discover the long-lost fortune of a 17th-century pirate.
It has since become a cult classic, and it was finally announced this year that The Goonies 2 is in the works with original writers Chris Columbus and Steven Spielberg on board.
Its popularity remains, as demonstrated by The Goonies slot game, which relies on The Goonies’ pirate-themed imagery, which is a very popular genre among slot players.
- Robocop: Ca$h Collect

Another film with a less successful reboot is RoboCop, the 1987 genre-bending science fiction epic set in a futuristic Detroit is another 80s cult classic.
The Robocop Ca$h Collect slot game borrows the same gritty streets of Detroit for its setting, along with iconic characters like Alex Murphy, RoboCop himself, and his Auto-9 gun.
However, the game itself is very simplistic compared to others on our list, like Ghostbusters Plus, but it is still a nice nostalgia trip.
