The fight for Earth intensifies this summer, as Apple TV+ has officially confirmed that its sprawling sci-fi drama ‘Invasion‘ will return for a ten-episode third season, continuing the high-stakes story of survival, resistance, and global unity in the face of an alien threat.
Created by Academy Award-nominated and two-time Emmy-nominated producer Simon Kinberg (X-Men, Deadpool, The Martian) and David Weil (Hunters), ‘Invasion’ presents a grounded and humanised take on an alien invasion. The series explores how different individuals across the world respond to an otherworldly threat, focusing on their emotional journeys and the connections that arise under extreme circumstances.
In the upcoming third season, those separate journeys converge for the first time. The main characters, scattered across continents in the first two seasons, are now forced to come together on a unified mission to infiltrate the alien mothership. With the emergence of what’s described as the “apex aliens,” the stakes are higher than ever. These new alien entities are far more advanced, deadly, and relentless than anything humanity has faced so far, spreading their influence rapidly and threatening to overwhelm the planet.
The story becomes more urgent as the characters must learn to trust one another and act as a team, despite having vastly different backgrounds and histories. Season three promises tense new alliances, emotional fallout from past events, and a focus on what it truly means to stand united against an existential threat. Alongside the growing danger, the season will explore fractured relationships, both personal and political, with humanity’s survival hanging in the balance.
Returning cast members include Golshifteh Farahani, Shioli Kutsuna, Shamier Anderson, India Brown, Shane Zaza, and Enver Gjokaj, all reprising their roles as the central group of survivors and fighters. Joining them for season three is new series regular Erika Alexander (Living Single, Wu-Tang: An American Saga), whose character is set to play a pivotal role in the mission against the alien invaders.
Behind the scenes, the series continues with its core creative team. Kinberg and Weil serve as executive producers alongside Audrey Chon, David Witz, Alik Sakharov, Dan Dietz, Katie O’Connell Marsh and Nick Nantell. The show has been praised for its blend of intense drama and cinematic production, with critics calling out its ability to “up the ante” each season and for its stunning visuals that highlight both the terror and awe of an alien incursion.
