Netflix Renews ‘Untamed’ for Season 2 With a New Park and a “Very Uncomfortable” Kyle Turner

by Dave Elliott

Netflix has confirmed that Untamed will return for a second season, with Eric Bana (Hanna, Troy) once again stepping into the role of Investigative Services Branch agent Kyle Turner. This time, he will be in a whole new park and facing an “impactful” case that will push him out of his comfort zone.

The news comes as something of a surprise, as ‘Untamed’ was originally billed as a limited, one-off series. However, its strong debut in the Netflix Top 10 and enthusiastic audience response convinced the streamer to order a second season.

“I am absolutely thrilled that we get the chance to bring another season of ‘Untamed’ to life,” Bana said. “The response to Season 1 has been a testament to the incredible effort by our crew to deliver something truly unique. I can’t wait to take Kyle on his next journey. Massive thanks to Netflix, John Wells Productions, Warner Bros. Television and our fans.”

Season 1 saw Turner tackling one of the toughest cases of his career in Yosemite National Park. By the finale, he left behind the park and much of the emotional baggage he carried with it. Showrunners Mark L. Smith (The Revenant) and Elle Smith now plan to drop him into an entirely different environment for Season 2.

“Each national park has such a different cultural identity, geographical identity,” Elle Smith explained. “Being able to explore those places through the case and through Turner’s journey is what’s so fascinating.”

This new park will not only bring fresh scenery but also force Turner into unfamiliar territory. “Turner was so comfortable in Yosemite,” Mark added. “He was the one leading this charge, and people followed him. And now, we are putting Kyle on his back foot, making him very uncomfortable.”

The showrunners also teased that some familiar faces could return, though nothing has been confirmed. “My God, we loved our cast and the characters they brought to life,” Mark said. “In an ideal world, we would be able to pull something off.”

‘Untamed’ is co-created by Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith and produced by John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

Untamed’ Season 2 does not yet have a premiere date but will air on Netflix worldwide. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
