Filming has officially commenced in London on the second series of the critically acclaimed and darkly comic Sky Original thriller Sweetpea. Ella Purnell (Fallout, Yellowjackets) returns as wallflower-turned-killer Rhiannon Lewis, and this time she’s joined by new cast members Tamsin Greig (Riot Women, Friday Night Dinner) and Rish Shah (Overcompensating, Joy).

Season 2 sees Rhiannon navigating a messy new promotion, an irresistible rebound, her sister selling the family home, Marina still hot on her trail – and a copycat killer threatening to expose her. With the kill list growing, Rhiannon is forced to question whether her perfect ex AJ was right all along: is she truly a monster?

Rish Shah joins as Gabriel, Rhiannon’s new romantic interest, while Tamsin Greig plays Liv, AJ’s mother. Other new faces include Taj Atwal (Riot Women, Line of Duty) as Freya, Rhiannon’s formidable new boss at the Carnsham Gazette, and Jenny Walser (Heartstopper, Star City) as Daisy, an adoring new friend.

Returning cast members include Jon Pointing (Big Boys, Run Away), Jeremy Swift (Ted Lasso, Downton Abbey), Leah Harvey (Foundation, The Scurry), Ingrid Oliver (Thursday Murder Club, Doctor Who), Nitin Ganatra (Mr Bigstuff, Sexy Beast), and Alexandra Dowling (Emily, Game of Thrones).

Executive Producers Ella Purnell, Ella Jones and Patrick Walters teased what’s to come:

“We are thrilled that Sweetpea and the world of Carnsham are back in full swing for Season 2, with new and exciting characters for what promises to be an intoxicating ride for Rhiannon as she continuous on her murderous journey. This season, the stakes are even higher, and as the consequences of her actions begin to close in, questions of morality and justice will come into play.”

Meghan Lyvers, Executive Director of Original Scripted for Sky (UK&I), added:

“We are delighted to return with some fan favourites and to introduce a brilliant new cast of such high calibre. Sweetpea’s second season will be packed with wickedly funny moments, dynamic storytelling, and as ever, twisted morality.”

Based on the novel by C.J. Skuse, the series is produced by See-Saw Films and fanboy in association with Sky Studios. It features episodes directed by Ella Jones (Sweetpea S1, The Baby) and Coky Giedroyc (How to Build a Girl, Save Me), with writing from Selina Lim, Emme Hoy, Anna Jordan, and Laura Jayne Tunbridge.

Sweetpea‘ Season 2 does not yet have a premiere date but will air on Sky in the UK. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
