Netflix has unveiled the first look at upcoming psychological thriller ‘The Beast in Me‘, which sees Claire Danes (Fleishman Is in Trouble, Homeland) and Matthew Rhys (The Americans, Perry Mason) go head-to-head in a tense game of cat and mouse.
The eight-part drama follows acclaimed author Aggie Wiggs (Danes), who has retreated from public life after the tragic death of her young son. Struggling to write and living like a ghost of her former self, she finds an unexpected subject for a new book when the house next door is bought by Nile Jarvis (Rhys), a formidable real estate mogul who was once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance. Drawn in by both horror and fascination, Aggie becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth about Nile, chasing his demons while fleeing her own.
Showrunner and executive producer Howard Gordon (Homeland, 24, The X-Files) told Netflix’s Tudum, “I’ve always appreciated Matthew’s work, but seeing him with Claire on our first Zoom made me especially excited that he’s agreed to play Nile.”
The series is created by Gabe Rotter (The X-Files) and also stars Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect, The Hunting Wives), Natalie Morales (No Hard Feelings, My Dead Friend Zoe), David Lyons (Truth Be Told), Tim Guinee (Horizon: An American Saga), Hettienne Park (The Last of Us), Jonathan Banks (Better Call Saul), Deirdre O’Connell (The Penguin), Aleyse Shannon (Leverage: Redemption), Will Brill (Fellow Travelers), Kate Burton (Grey’s Anatomy), Bill Irwin (Legion), Amir Arison (The Blacklist), and Julie Ann Emery (Better Call Saul).
Behind the camera, the series is executive produced by Rotter, Gordon, Danes, Antonio Campos (The Staircase), Daniel Pearle (American Crime Story), Caroline Baron (Severance), Jodie Foster, and Conan O’Brien, Jeff Ross, and David Kissinger for Conaco. Campos also directs. The show is produced by 20th Television.
‘The Beast in Me‘ Season 1 premieres Thursday, 13th November 2025 on Netflix.
