The end of the trail is in sight for ‘Billy the Kid’, as MGM+ has unveiled the action-packed trailer and set a September premiere for the Western drama’s third and final season.
Created by Michael Hirst (Vikings, The Tudors, Elizabeth), the series has followed outlaw Henry McCarty, better known as Billy the Kid, through love, betrayal, and the bloody conflict of the Lincoln County War.
The Lincoln County War may be officially over, but both Billy the Kid and Sheriff Pat Garrett (Alex Roe) have important issues to resolve… There is a reckoning to come. Billy is still at large, and Garrett is out to capture him, dead or alive. With a bounty on his head, Billy has the opportunity to quit New Mexico altogether and pursue a future with Dulcinea (Nuria Vega), the love of his life. But he has unfinished business with Garrett, who has betrayed him, and chooses to stay. Meanwhile, Jesse Evans (Daniel Webber), Billy’s longtime friend, rival and enemy, also remains in Lincoln, searching for a newfound purpose and perhaps atonement for his sins. As the saga reaches its conclusion, Billy will fight like hell to finally find the justice that has long eluded him, even if it means he’ll die trying.
The series stars Tom Blyth (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) as Billy, alongside Webber, Roe, and Vega.
Behind the camera, Hirst returns as creator, writer and executive producer, joined by Donald De Line (De Line Pictures) and Amblin Television’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey. The show is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, in association with Amblin Television and De Line Pictures.
‘Billy the Kid’ Season 2 was one of the most-watched originals on MGM+, and the streamer promises to end the saga on a suitably dramatic note. The final season will also roll out internationally, including in the UK, Italy and Latin America, via MGM+.
‘Billy the Kid’ Season 3 premieres Sunday, 28th September 2025 at 9pm ET/PT on MGM+ in the USA, and will be available from Monday, 29th September 2025 at 2am on MGM+ in the UK.
