Disney and Pixar are bringing another intergalactic tale to homes this month, as ‘Elio’ makes its streaming debut on Disney+. The film, which hit cinemas earlier this year, follows a young boy who suddenly finds himself beamed into an alien organisation and accidentally mistaken for Earth’s official representative.
To celebrate, Disney+ has also dropped a new video (above) celebrating Pixar Animation Studios’ remarkable storytelling legacy. The reel highlights unforgettable moments from recent hits such as Luca and Elemental, alongside classics like Finding Nemo, Up, Coco, Ratatouille and Inside Out. All of these, along with Elio, are available to stream as part of the studio’s rich catalogue on Disney+.
The platform is keen to remind us that Pixar magic continues to resonate with global audiences. Last year, Inside Out 2 became the No. 1 film premiere on Disney+, pulling in 30.5 million views globally in just five days. Elio now joins that proud legacy, adding to a Pixar journey that began thirty years ago with Toy Story. Across its 29 feature films, the studio has notched up 71 Academy Award nominations and 23 Oscars, cementing its place as one of the most influential creative forces in animation.
Looking ahead, 2026 will bring even more Pixar wonders, including the hugely anticipated Toy Story 5 and an original new tale, Hoppers.
About the Film
Yonas Kibreab voices Elio, an imaginative space-obsessed boy who gets abducted by the Communiverse, a vast interplanetary organisation filled with eccentric alien lifeforms. Mistakenly identified as Earth’s leader, Elio must forge bonds across galaxies, face a crisis of cosmic proportions, and ultimately learn who he really is meant to be.
The film also stars Zoe Saldaña (Guardians of the Galaxy) as Aunt Olga, Remy Edgerly as Glordon, Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond) as Lord Grigon, Jameela Jamil (The Good Place) as Ambassador Questa and Shirley Henderson (Harry Potter) as the alien OOOOO.
Elio is directed by Madeline Sharafian (Burrow), Domee Shi (Turning Red) and Adrian Molina (Coco), and produced by Mary Alice Drumm (Coco).
