Suranne Jones and Jodie Whittaker Unite in First-Look at ITV’s Thrilling Heist Drama ‘Frauds’

by Dave Elliott

ITV has released a first-look at Frauds, the upcoming six-part heist drama that pairs two of the UK’s most celebrated actresses, Suranne Jones (Vigil, Gentleman Jack, Doctor Foster) and Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who, Broadchurch, Time), on screen together for the very first time. The stylish thriller is set to air on ITV1, STV, ITVX and STV Player this Autumn.

‘Frauds’ follows Bert (Jones) and Sam (Whittaker), two con women whose toxic yet darkly funny friendship is reignited for one last job. When Bert is released from prison on compassionate grounds, it is Sam she calls to help her pull off the art heist of the century. But while the duo gathers a team of outcasts to plan the audacious theft, their own power struggle threatens to blow the entire operation apart.

The series blends tense crime drama with emotional depth, exploring how friendship, guilt and betrayal can be just as dangerous as the heist itself. Filmed against the dramatic landscapes of southern Spain, the show promises a heady mix of sun-soaked scenery and the darker undercurrents of the criminal underworld.

Suranne Jones, who also serves as Executive Producer and co-creator, said:
“Working on Frauds with Anne-Marie and Monumental for the last 2 years has been a wild ride. We took the idea of toxic female friendship and turned it on its head to give the heist genre an emotional heartbeat. I have always wanted to work with Jodie, and now I am. I hope you love Bert and Sam and all they get up to as much as we do.”

The drama was created by Jones and Anne-Marie O’Connor (Maryland, Hullraisers, Trollied) and is produced by Monumental Television (The Marlow Murder Club, Ghosts, Harlots), in association with ITV Studios. The series is directed by Giulia Gandini (The Split, Shetland) and produced by Pat Tookey-Dickson (Toxic Town, 1899, Ghosts). Executive producers include Alison Owen, Katie Kelly, Debra Hayward, Alison Carpenter, Jill Forbes, Anne-Marie O’Connor, and Suranne Jones for TeamAkers.

Helen Ziegler, Senior Drama Commissioning Editor at ITV, added:
“We are delighted to be working with Suranne, Anne Marie and the brilliant team at Monumental on their unique take on a heist show. At its heart this is a story of a complex, surprising friendship, which asks if Sam and Bert can pull together for one last job, or whether the past will derail them. Suranne and Jodie are two incredible actors and it’ll be thrilling to see what they bring to the central characters.”

Frauds does not yet have a premiere date but will air in Autumn 2025 on ITV1, STV, ITVX and STV Player in the UK. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
