Disney+ has released the trailer for upcoming limited series ‘Murdaugh: Death in the Family’, which arrives this October and delves into one of America’s most notorious and shocking scandals.
The eight-episode series kicks off with three episodes at launch, before rolling out weekly instalments. It stars Jason Clarke (Oppenheimer, Pet Sematary) as Alex Murdaugh and Patricia Arquette (Severance, The Act) as Maggie Murdaugh, pulling viewers into the dark heart of South Carolina’s infamous legal dynasty.
Maggie and Alex appear to enjoy a life of privilege as part of one of the most powerful families in the state. But when their son Paul is involved in a deadly boat crash, cracks begin to form in the family’s carefully constructed world. As secrets unravel and new revelations emerge, the Murdaugh name becomes linked to a string of mysterious deaths that threaten everything they hold dear. The series is inspired by the hit Murdaugh Murders Podcast.
Joining Clarke and Arquette in the cast are Johnny Berchtold (Tiny Beautiful Things) as Paul Murdaugh, Will Harrison (Daisy Jones & The Six) as Buster Murdaugh, Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect) as journalist Mandy Matney, and J. Smith-Cameron (Succession) as Marian Proctor.
‘Murdaugh: Death in the Family’ comes from co-creators Michael D. Fuller (Quarry, Rectify, Locke & Key) and Erin Lee Carr (Britney vs Spears, I Love You, Now Die). Nick Antosca (A Friend of the Family, The Act, Candy) and Alex Hedlund executive produce alongside Mandy Matney, with UCP (a division of Universal Studio Group) serving as the studio.
