The BBC has unveiled first-look images from ‘Mint‘, the debut television series from filmmaker Charlotte Regan, best known for her award-winning film Scrapper. The darkly comic and unconventional drama comes from House Productions (Sherwood, Conclave, The Iron Claw) and Fearless Minds (The Critic, Soulmates), and is heading to BBC iPlayer and BBC One.
Starring Emma Laird (The Brutalist, Mayor of Kingstown) and acting newcomer Ben Coyle-Larner, better known to music fans as rapper Loyle Carner, ‘Mint’ follows Shannon and Arran in a story of soaring romance, crushing heartbreak, and what love might feel like when everyone outside of your family is terrified of you.
The first-look images show Laird in a striking hall of mirrors, her floral blue and white dress reflecting infinitely, while Coyle-Larner is captured under warm yellow lights with a bag slung over his shoulder, hinting at the series’ stylish and offbeat tone.
Filmed in Glasgow earlier this year, the eight-part series is created, written and directed by Charlotte Regan, who brings her unique storytelling voice to television. The supporting cast features Sam Riley (Firebrand, Control), Laura Fraser (Breaking Bad, Patience), Lewis Gribben (Somewhere Boy, Black Mirror), and Lindsay Duncan (TrueLove, Birdman).
Behind the scenes, the series is produced by Angus Lamont (The Wonder, Tin Star), with executive producers Tessa Ross, Juliette Howell and Theo Barrowclough for House Productions, Jolyon Symonds for Fearless Minds, and Rebecca Ferguson for the BBC. BBC Studios will handle international sales, with ‘Mint’ set to be presented to global buyers at MIPCOM 2025.
‘Mint‘ does not yet have a premiere date but will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
