The wait is nearly over for fans of blood, betrayal and backstabbing in the arena. ‘Spartacus: House of Ashur’ has locked in its launch this December, with STARZ confirming a US premiere on Friday, 5th December 2025, and MGM+ UK following on Saturday, 6th December 2025, with a two-episode debut.
This ten-episode series marks the return of Nick E. Tarabay (Spartacus, The Expanse) as Ashur, the scheming villain from the original run. Fans might remember Ashur meeting a rather final end in Spartacus: Vengeance, but this time the story takes a bold, history-bending twist. What if Ashur had survived, and as a reward for his treachery, the Romans gifted him the gladiator school once owned by Batiatus? Now, Ashur rules from the very ludus that once enslaved him, a master navigating the far deadlier battlefield of Roman politics.
Joining Tarabay are Graham McTavish (The Witcher, House of the Dragon) as Korris, Tenika Davis (Jupiter’s Legacy, Cabinet of Curiosities) as Achillia, and Jordi Webber (Choose Love, Prosper) as Tarchon. They’re joined by Jamaica Vaughan (Home and Away, 800 Words), Ivana Baquero (Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shannara Chronicles), Claudia Black (The Nevers, Ahsoka), India Shaw-Smith (The Pines Still Whisper, Supernatural), Jackson Gallagher, Jaime Slater, and Leigh Gill (Joker, Game of Thrones).
Behind the camera, franchise creator Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil) returns as showrunner and executive producer, alongside Rick Jacobson (Ash vs. Evil Dead, The Royal Treatment) and Aaron Helbing (The Flash, Mortal Kombat: Legacy). The project is produced by Lionsgate Television for STARZ.
The original Spartacus saga began in 2010 with Blood and Sand, followed by the prequel Gods of the Arena and two further series, Vengeance and War of the Damned. All of them cemented the show’s reputation for outrageous action, shocking betrayals and gloriously over-the-top spectacle. House of Ashur looks set to push that even further.
