Sky has confirmed that CBS’s hit mystery drama ‘Watson’ will finally make its UK debut this month on Sky Witness and streaming service NOW.
The series reimagines the world of Sherlock Holmes through the eyes of his famous companion, Dr. John Watson, played by Morris Chestnut (The Resident, Rosewood). Set six months after Holmes’ death, Watson has left detective work behind and returned to medicine as the head of a clinic specialising in rare disorders. But when unusual cases begin to cross his path, he finds himself drawn back into a world of puzzles and hidden truths, where the line between science and sleuthing starts to blur.
‘Watson’ comes from Craig Sweeny (Elementary), who once again delves into the Holmes mythology, this time with a focus on the man who stood beside the great detective. The series combines the structure of a medical procedural with the intrigue of a psychological mystery, exploring grief, morality and identity through Watson’s new life as both healer and investigator.
The cast features Eve Harlow (The Night Agent), Peter Mark Kendall (The Americans), Ritchie Coster (Happy!), Inga Schlingmann (So Help Me Todd), and Rochelle Aytes (S.W.A.T.). Across its 13-episode first season, the show builds a rich ensemble around Watson’s clinic, where every patient brings a new riddle to solve and a new moral question to answer.
In the US, ‘Watson’ received mixed reviews from critics but quickly became a ratings hit, drawing millions of viewers and ranking among CBS’s most-watched new dramas of the 2024/25 season. Many praised Morris Chestnut for his charismatic and grounded performance, which gives new life to one of fiction’s most familiar figures. A second season has already been commissioned, ensuring there are plenty more mysteries in store for fans of the modern-day medic-turned-detective.
