The BBC has revealed a cracking line-up of festive guest stars for the upcoming Christmas specials of ‘Death in Paradise‘ and ‘Beyond Paradise‘, which arrive on BBC One and BBC iPlayer this holiday season. Both shows are gearing up for a sleigh full of sun, crime, chaos and yuletide spirit.
‘Beyond Paradise’

Beyond Paradise returns to the cosy seaside surroundings of Shipton Abbott, where Christmas is about to get delightfully complicated. This year’s visiting guest cast includes Adrian Edmondson (Alien: Earth), James Lance (Ted Lasso), and Jonny Weldon (One Day).
They join returning series regulars Kris Marshall (DI Humphrey Goodman), Sally Bretton (Martha Lloyd), Zahra Ahmadi (DS Esther Williams), Dylan Llewellyn (PC Kelby Hartford), Barbara Flynn (Anne Lloyd), Felicity Montagu (Margo Martins), Jamie Bamber (Archie Hughes), and Melina Sinadinou (Zoe Williams) as a mysterious arrival shakes up the town.
When Esther finds a man on the police station steps with no memory and holding a photo of Humphrey, the team is pulled into a tinsel covered tangle of festive cases. Martha teams up with Anne, Zoe and a special guest to carry out a secret mission, while Kelby finds himself trying to rescue someone trapped inside a snowman costume. Expect unexpected visitors, a flurry of holiday crimes, and a reunion that could change everything.
The special is a co commission between the BBC and BritBox and is produced by Red Planet Pictures. BBC Studios handles global sales and all series of Beyond Paradise are available on BBC iPlayer in the UK and on BritBox in North America and Nordic regions.
‘Death in Paradise’

Over on Saint Marie, Death in Paradise continues its tradition of chaotic Christmas crime as Josie Lawrence (Outside Edge), Kate Ashfield (Shaun of the Dead), Pearl Mackie (Doctor Who), James Baxter (Waterloo Road), Billy Harris (Ted Lasso), Oriana Charles, and Alix Serman all join the festivities.
They appear alongside returning cast Don Gilet (DI Mervin Wilson), Shantol Jackson (DS Naomi Thomas), Ginny Holder (Officer Darlene Curtis), Shaquille Ali Yebuah (Officer Sebastian Rose), and Élizabeth Bourgine (Catherine Bordey) as the show heads from Saint Marie to Swindon for a holiday mystery that stretches across continents.
A work Christmas party turns nightmarish when four colleagues wake to find a stranger dead in their villa pool. The murder weapon turns up locked inside a drawer that was thousands of miles away at the time of the crime, creating a festive paradox only Saint Marie’s best can untangle. With the team stuck on the island, they enlist the help of a familiar face to crack the case. Meanwhile, Mervin anxiously awaits news from his newly discovered brother, making it difficult to embrace the island’s festive cheer.
The special is executive-produced by Red Planet Pictures with BBC Studios handling global sales. Every series of Death in Paradise is available on BBC iPlayer.
‘Death in Paradise‘ and ‘Beyond Paradise‘ Christmas specials do not yet have confirmed premiere dates, but both will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK this December. If you want to keep track of these or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when they get a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
