ITV has acquired the critically acclaimed and wonderfully offbeat drama ‘Dispatches from Elsewhere’, with the series set to make its free-to-air UK debut on ITVX this February.
Originally created by and starring Jason Segel, the ten-episode series first aired on AMC in the US back in 2020. It blends mystery, magical realism and deeply human drama into something that feels unlike almost anything else on television, following four strangers who feel disconnected from the world and themselves.
The story begins when the quartet respond to a cryptic flyer that pulls them into a strange, immersive game unfolding just beneath the surface of everyday life. As the puzzle deepens, so do their personal journeys, forcing each of them to confront identity, trauma, loneliness and the need to truly be seen.
Alongside Segel, the cast includes Sally Field as Janice, a guarded woman searching for meaning, André 3000 as the quietly philosophical Fredwynn, and Eve Lindley as Simone, a restless young woman yearning for purpose. The series also features Richard E. Grant, adding another layer of eccentricity to an already distinctive ensemble.
Inspired in part by real-world alternate reality games, Dispatches from Elsewhere unfolds as a slowly revealing emotional mystery. What starts as curiosity soon becomes transformation, with the show gradually unpacking the inner lives of its characters while inviting the audience to question reality, connection and the stories we tell ourselves.
When it originally launched, the series was widely praised for its originality, warmth and willingness to take creative risks. Critics highlighted its emotional depth, visual ambition and philosophical curiosity, with particular acclaim for the performances of Segel and Field.
It is also worth noting that the drama previously aired in the UK on Prime Video in April 2021. This ITVX run marks the show’s first free-to-air UK broadcast, opening it up to a much wider audience.
‘Dispatches from Elsewhere’ premieres Thursday, 12th February 2026 on ITVX.

I was just looking for it so I could start watching it and was confused when I couldn’t find it. It was really only available for 1 day?! That’s ridiculous.
