‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ is back, and the newly released Season 4 trailer makes one thing immediately clear: this is no ordinary case for Mickey Haller. For the first time, the famously unflappable defence attorney is not fighting for a client. He is fighting for himself.
Picking up directly after the explosive Season 3 finale, the new season finds Mickey facing his greatest nightmare. After the body of his former client Sam Scales was discovered in the trunk of his Lincoln, Mickey is arrested and charged with murder, forcing him to defend his own innocence while his reputation hangs by a thread.
According to co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez, this makes Season 4 the most personal chapter of the series so far. With Mickey now the client, the stakes are higher than ever, not just legally, but emotionally, as the pressure begins to crack his trademark confidence.
The trailer teases a tense courtroom battle as Mickey squares off against formidable prosecutor Dana Berg, a ruthless operator with a history involving both Mickey and Maggie McPherson. Known as “Death Row” Dana, she is portrayed as a true believer in the system, armed with the skill and determination to put anyone away, and this time her sights are firmly set on Mickey.
With the prosecution playing hardball and enemies closing in, Mickey is forced to rely on his closest allies. Maggie is back in a major way this season, appearing in every episode as she grapples with the moral and professional fallout of helping someone on the opposite side of the aisle. Lorna Crane also steps up, juggling her new life as a lawyer with the responsibility of keeping Haller and Associates afloat while Mickey’s case consumes the firm.
The rest of the familiar team are very much in the fight too, with Izzy, Cisco, and Mickey’s mentor Legal Siegel all returning to support him as the walls start to close in. While Mickey initially puts on a brave face, the trailer hints that it will not take long for the reality of the situation to truly sink in.
Season 4 looks set to push the show into darker, more intense territory, blending the legal chess matches fans love with a deeply personal story about identity, trust, and survival when the system turns on one of its own.
