MGM+ has confirmed that Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones, Rogue Heroes) is joining the cast of ‘The Institute‘ for its second season, with production now officially underway in Halifax.
Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King, the thriller horror series began filming Season Two on Monday, 3rd February, as the story picks up in the immediate aftermath of the explosive events of the first run.
Allen will play Nolan Reeves, described as an eccentric European tech billionaire and one of the Institute’s financial backers, with an ambitious agenda very much of his own. It is a role that sounds tailor-made for unsettling power dynamics and moral grey areas, which is very much ‘The Institute’s’ stock in trade.
He joins returning cast members Ben Barnes (Shadow and Bone, The Punisher, Westworld), Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds), Joe Freeman, Simone Miller (Run the Burbs), Fionn Laird (Under the Banner of Heaven), Robert Joy (FROM), Arlen So (Private Eyes West Coast), Jeff Fahey (Lost), and Hannah Galway (Billy the Kid).
Behind the camera, the series again comes from executive producer Stephen King, alongside director and executive producer Jack Bender (Lost, Mr. Mercedes, FROM) and executive producer and writer Benjamin Cavell (Justified, The Stand), with MGM+ Studios producing. Amazon MGM Studios Distribution handles international sales beyond MGM+’s own territories.
Season Two sees Luke Ellis, Tim Jamieson and the remaining survivors attempting to expose the Institute’s crimes while staying ahead of the killers hunting them down. At the same time, the ruthless Ms. Sigsby continues her quest for vengeance and a return to power, uncovering even deeper secrets buried within the organisation.
