Prime Video has confirmed ‘Good Omens’ will return this May to close out the story of Aziraphale and Crowley, bringing the fantasy hit to an end with a single feature-length episode rather than a full third season.
Based on the novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, the series follows an angel and a demon who have spent millennia on Earth, grown rather attached to humanity, and formed a partnership that Heaven and Hell never quite approved of.
Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex) stars as the bookish angel Aziraphale, while David Tennant (Doctor Who) plays sharp-suited demon Crowley. Across two seasons, ‘Good Omens’ blended apocalyptic stakes with a slow-burn relationship that became the emotional heart of the show.
Season 2, which landed in 2023, ended on a dramatic split. Aziraphale was offered the role of Supreme Archangel and suggested he could restore Crowley to angel status. Crowley rejected the offer, called out Heaven’s long-standing hypocrisy, and finally admitted his feelings before walking away. The finale also set up The Second Coming, leaving both cosmic and personal storylines hanging in the balance.
Originally, the plan had been for a full third season. However, following the sexual assault allegations made against Neil Gaiman in 2024, he stepped back from involvement in the adaptation. Reports at the time indicated the scope of the final chapter was subsequently reduced to a single 90-minute episode, with some of his previously developed story contributions retained. Prime Video also shelved its adaptation of Anansi Boys.
Despite the change in format, anticipation for the finale remains high, largely thanks to the chemistry between Sheen and Tennant, which has anchored the series since its debut.
