HBO Max UK Details Launch Line-Up Ahead Of March Debut

We already knew HBO Max was landing in the UK and Ireland on Thursday, 26th March 2026. The date has been circled for a while. What we did not have until now was a clearer look at exactly what would be sitting on the service when it switches on.

Warner Bros. Discovery has now revealed a sizeable chunk of the launch offering, and it is very much leaning into the platform’s biggest strength: scale. For the first time in the UK and Ireland, audiences will be able to stream content from HBO, Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Television, DC Studios, Max Originals and TNT Sports all in one place.

On the prestige boxset front, HBO Max will house iconic HBO Originals including ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Sex and the City’, ‘The Sopranos’, ‘The Wire’, ‘Girls’, ‘True Blood’, ‘Big Little Lies’, ‘Boardwalk Empire’, ‘Veep’ and ‘Entourage’. Warner Bros. Television favourites ‘Friends’ and ‘The Big Bang Theory’ will also be available, giving the platform a formidable back catalogue from day one.

New and upcoming HBO Originals will stream in line with US transmission, including ‘DTF St. Louis’, ‘Rooster’ and the third and final season of ‘The Comeback’. Returning heavy hitters such as ‘Euphoria’, ‘The White Lotus’, ‘The Last of Us’ and ‘House of the Dragon’ will also sit on the service, alongside the full boxset of ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’. As previously announced, ‘The Pitt’ Seasons 1 and 2 will stream exclusively on HBO Max in the UK and Ireland.

It is worth noting that this does not mean everything instantly vanishes from Sky. As part of existing agreements, certain titles will continue to air directly on Sky alongside their availability on HBO Max. Series such as ‘DTF St. Louis’ and ‘Rooster’ will also broadcast on Sky, while major returning dramas, including ‘The Last of Us’ and ‘House of the Dragon’ will continue to air on Sky under the co-broadcast arrangement. HBO Max becomes the central streaming home, but Sky viewers will still see key tentpole series on their existing platform.

Documentary and unscripted content is also playing a major role in the launch slate. HBO Original documentary “Mel Brooks: The 99 Year Old Man!” explores the life and career of the legendary writer, director and performer. “Armed Only With a Camera: The Life and Death of Brent Renaud” examines the work and final reporting mission of the American filmmaker killed while covering the war in Ukraine. Two-part true crime documentary “Murder in Glitterball City” investigates a dark case in Louisville, Kentucky, while brand-new four-part series “Boom Box: Beats and Betrayal” follows a London recording studio that becomes entangled in guns and gang loyalties.

Comedy fans are catered for too. The Emmy-winning travel series “Conan O’Brien Must Go” arrives with both Season 1 and Season 2 available at launch. “Neighbors”, a new HBO and A24 late-night series, explores real-life residential conflicts across the United States, diving into disputes over property lines, pets and even wardrobe choices.

International drama is another clear focus. Italian series “Portobello” dramatises the real-life scandal surrounding Italian TV host Enzo Tortora in the 1980s. French drama “The Seduction” reimagines “Les Liaisons Dangereuses” through the eyes of the Marquise de Merteuil. Mexican hit “Like Water for Chocolate” launches with both Season 1 and Season 2, blending romance, magical realism and family tradition.

The film library adds further weight, with titles including “Superman”, “One Battle After Another” and “A Minecraft Movie”, alongside the full “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Conjuring” collections. HBO Max will also exclusively house the “Harry Potter” and “Fantastic Beasts” film collections, giving the service immediate franchise appeal.

At launch, HBO Max will be available direct via hbomax.com. In the UK and Ireland, it will also be accessible via Sky and Prime Video, with a Basic with Ads tier available to Sky Stream and Sky Glass customers with Sky Ultimate TV, and via a NOW Entertainment & HBO Max bundle.

We knew the launch was coming. What this announcement really confirms is that HBO Max is not easing into the UK market. It is arriving with dragons, mobsters, wizards, scandalous courtesans and at least one famously silent parrot, all under one banner from day one.
