Sky has released the official trailer for ‘The Miniature Wife’, a new Sky Exclusive comedy drama starring Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect, The Hunger Games) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession, Deadpool & Wolverine), landing this April on Sky and NOW.
Based on the short story by Manuel Gonzales, ‘The Miniature Wife’ is a sharp, surreal dramedy exploring the shifting power dynamics between married couple Lindy and Les. After a technological accident triggers what can only be described as the ultimate relationship crisis, the pair are forced to confront the (im)balances in their marriage in ways neither of them could possibly have predicted. It is domestic drama with a speculative twist, and if the trailer is anything to go by, it leans hard into both the emotional awkwardness and the absurdity of the premise.
Banks and Macfadyen lead a strong ensemble cast. Joining them as series regulars are Zoe Lister-Jones (Slip, Beau Is Afraid), O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale, Presumed Innocent), Sian Clifford (Fleabag, The Ballad of Wallis Island), and Sofia Rosinsky (Paper Girls, Death and Other Details). Recurring roles include Ronny Chieng (The Daily Show, Crazy Rich Asians), Aasif Mandvi (Evil, The Daily Show), Rong Fu (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Hello (Again)) and Tricia Black (Small Achievable Goals, Pretty Hard Cases).
The series is created by Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner, who also serve as showrunners and executive producers. Greg Mottola directs episodes 1, 2, 7 and 8 and executive produces, alongside Banks and Macfadyen. Executive producers also include Michael Aguilar, Suzanne Heathcote, Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer for Media Res.
Produced by Media Res Studio and distributed internationally by Sony Pictures Television, the show blends relationship comedy with high-concept sci-fi in a way that feels tailor-made for audiences who like their marital spats with a side order of existential weirdness.
