‘Miss Scarlet’ To End With Season 7 As Filming Begins On Final Chapter

by Dave Elliott

The popular period detective drama Miss Scarlet is preparing to take its final bow, with MASTERPIECE on PBS confirming the show will conclude with its upcoming seventh season. The Victorian crime series, led by Kate Phillips (Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light), has begun filming its final six-episode run, which will bring Eliza Scarlet’s story to a close.

The series has built a loyal following since it first launched in 2021, following Eliza Scarlet as Victorian London’s first female private detective. Across its run, the drama has blended classic murder mysteries with a sharp central character determined to break through the rigid expectations of 19th-century society.

In the UK, the show airs on U&Alibi, where ‘Miss Scarlet’ Season 6 is set to premiere this March 2026. Previous seasons have also aired on the channel, helping the show build a steady audience on this side of the Atlantic.

Season 7 continues Eliza’s journey as she finds herself balancing both professional ambition and personal relationships. Having built a reputation as a capable investigator, she now faces new pressures as her work grows more complicated and the criminal underworld evolves. The story also brings back familiar faces while introducing a powerful new crime boss arriving in London, promising higher stakes as the series heads towards its conclusion.

Returning alongside Kate Phillips are Tom Durant-Pritchard (The Forsytes) as Inspector Alexander Blake, along with Paul Bazely (Black Mirror), Tim Chipping (The Crown), Evan McCabe (House of the Dragon), Felix Scott (Death in Paradise), Cordelia Bugeja (Silent Witness) and Ansu Kabia (Miss Scarlet & The Duke).

Creator and writer Rachael New reflected on the journey of the show, saying:
“It’s a wrench to say goodbye to a character that I have lived and breathed for all these years, but Eliza will forever be with me whether on screen or off.”

Lead star Kate Phillips also spoke about the end of the series:
“What a journey this has been. Miss Scarlet has been one of the greatest joys of my career, and I will forever be grateful to Rachael New for creating such a witty, sharp, and delightful character in Eliza. It’s been a privilege to work on a show crafted with so much love and dedication and as we prepare to say goodbye, I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved and the memories we’ve made. Thank you to everyone who has supported us — I can’t wait to share the farewell Miss Scarlet deserves.”

Executive producer Patty Ishimoto added:
“Taking Miss Scarlet through seven seasons has been an incredible journey, and as we bring the story to its conclusion, it feels both bittersweet and deeply satisfying. I believe fans will feel that same sense of completion.”

Set in 1880s London, the series follows Eliza as she continues the work of her late father’s detective agency. Over the years she has relied on allies including Scotland Yard officers and loyal friends, while navigating a world that rarely welcomes women into investigative work.

Miss Scarlet’ Season 6 premieres March 2026 on U&Alibi in the UK. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
