‘Beyond Paradise’ Unveils First Look At Series 4 With Susan George, Phil Daniels & More Joining The Cast

by Dave Elliott

The BBC has released first-look images from the upcoming fourth series of Beyond Paradise, along with a sizeable list of guest stars heading to Shipton Abbott when the show returns to BBC iPlayer and BBC One later this month.

And yes, it looks like Humphrey’s peaceful coastal life is about to get very complicated indeed.

Returning to the idyllic seaside town are Kris Marshall (Death in Paradise) as DI Humphrey Goodman and Sally Bretton (Not Going Out) as Martha, alongside Zahra Ahmadi (The Bay) as DS Esther Williams, Dylan Llewellyn (Derry Girls) as PC Kelby Hartford, Barbara Flynn (Cranford) as Anne Lloyd and Felicity Montagu (I’m Alan Partridge) as Margo Martins. Also back are Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica) as Archie Hughes, Melina Sinadinou (The Sandman) as Zoe Williams, Eva Feiler (Cuffs) as Lucy Thompson and Phil Daniels (EastEnders) as Marvelous Harris.

The new series promises more twisty mysteries where fact and folklore blur together. Among the cases this time around are the death of a novelist who eerily predicted their own demise, a Dark Morris celebration that takes a turn for the worse, a mysteriously reappearing treasure map and even reports of a vengeful mermaid out at sea. Humphrey and Martha are also settling into married life and searching for a new home, while an impossible decision looms that could change the station forever.

A Boatload Of Guest Stars

Series 4 also brings an impressive guest roster to Devon’s most crime-prone postcard location.

Among those appearing are Susan George (Straw Dogs), Colin McFarlane (The War Between the Land and the Sea), Michael Cochrane (The Archers), Melanie Walters (Gavin & Stacey), Vincent Franklin (The War Between the Land and the Sea), Alex Macqueen (The Inbetweeners), Tristan Sturrock (Poldark), Andrea Lowe (Sherwood), Rachel Cassidy (Downton Abbey), Emily Stott (Foundation), Rina Mahoney (Happy Valley), Susan Penhaligon (A Fine Romance), James Clay (MobLand), Kenneth Collard (Cuckoo) and Narinda Samra (Ackley Bridge).

The wider Paradise franchise continues to go from strength to strength. Sister series ‘Death in Paradise’ is currently airing its fifteenth series on BBC iPlayer and BBC One, while Aussie-set spin-off ‘Return to Paradise’ recently wrapped its second series.

Series 4 is produced by Red Planet Pictures as a co-commission between the BBC and BritBox, with BBC Studios handling global sales. All previous series are available on BBC iPlayer in the UK, and on BritBox in North America and the Nordics.

Beyond Paradise’ Series 4 premieres later this month on BBC iPlayer and BBC One. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
