Netflix’s ‘Man On Fire’ Series Ignites This April Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II

by Dave Elliott

Netflix has revealed more details about Man On Fire, a new action thriller series starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen), which is set to ignite screens this April. The show adapts the novel series by A.J. Quinnell and reimagines the story of haunted soldier John Creasy, a man trying to rebuild his life while confronting the ghosts of his past.

The series follows Creasy, a former Special Forces mercenary who once had a reputation for surviving the most brutal situations imaginable. Now struggling with severe PTSD and personal demons, he is searching for a way to start over. That fresh start does not last long. Creasy soon finds himself pulled back into danger as events around him spiral into violence, forcing him to fight once again.

Alongside Abdul-Mateen, the cast includes Billie Boullet (World-Breaker) as Poe Rayburn, a teenager unhappy about her family’s relocation to Brazil who suddenly finds herself caught in a terrifying situation that changes her life. As the sole witness to a traumatic event, Poe quickly learns that Creasy may be the only person she can trust.

Alice Braga (City of God) plays Valeria Melo, a skilled driver with family ties to a gang operating in a local favela. After Creasy hires her, she becomes his key ally as the pair work to protect a young girl while tracking down dangerous enemies.

The series also features Bobby Cannavale (The Watcher) appearing as guest star Paul Rayburn, an ex–Special Forces soldier with an uncanny ability to read people, and Scoot McNairy (True Detective) as Henry Tappan, a calculating CIA field agent operating in Brazil.

Behind the scenes, the show is written and run by Kyle Killen (Fear Street), who serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) directs the first two episodes and also executive produces the project. Additional executive producers include Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Natalie Lehmann for New Regency Productions, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and Tracey Cook for Chernin Entertainment, along with Scott Pennington, Ed McDonnell, Michael Polaire and Stacy Perskie.

The new series joins a growing list of thriller adaptations arriving on streaming services, and fans of the story may recognise the name from the previous film adaptations. This version, however, expands the narrative into a longer-form series that explores Creasy’s psychological struggles alongside the explosive action.

Man On Fire‘ Season 1 premieres Thursday, 30th April 2026 on Netflix.
