Fallout 3 Remastered May Have Leaked Via McFarlane Toy Listing

by Dave Elliott

A possible Fallout 3 Remastered project may have just surfaced thanks to an unexpected source… a toy listing.

Fans recently spotted references to “Fallout 3 Remastered” in a product page from McFarlane Toys, the collectables company known for producing figures based on major video games and films. While the listing does not confirm the game officially exists, it has reignited long-running rumours that Bethesda is quietly working on an updated version of the classic RPG.

McFarlane Listing Sparks Fallout 3 Remaster Rumours

The discovery comes from a McFarlane product page for an upcoming collectable figure. The listing reportedly reads:

“[PO 2026.08] MCFARLANE ELITE EDITION 7IN – FALLOUT 3 REMASTERED – #13 T-45B NUKA COLA”.

That description strongly suggests the merchandise is tied to a project specifically labelled Fallout 3 Remastered, which has never actually been announced by Bethesda. Images connected to the listing include artwork featuring the iconic T-45 power armour and the fan favourite companion Dogmeat, both central elements of the original 2008 game.

Naturally, the appearance of the title in official merchandise listings has led many fans to assume the remaster may have leaked early.

However, it should be noted that McFarlane has not confirmed anything about a remaster, and the wording in the listing could simply be a placeholder or a misprint.

Toy Manufacturers Often Know About Games Early

Even if Bethesda has not announced the project publicly, toy companies often receive information about games, films, or TV series long before they are revealed.

Manufacturers need significant lead time to design and produce collectibles so that merchandise can launch alongside the game itself. Because of that, toy catalogues and retailer listings have historically leaked projects ahead of official announcements.

So while the McFarlane listing does not confirm the game outright, it would not be unusual for merchandise to accidentally reveal an unannounced project.

Fallout 3 Remaster Has Been Rumoured For Years

Rumours about a remastered version of Fallout 3 have been circulating for quite some time.

In early March, Windows Central journalist Jez Corden reported that remasters of both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas were currently in development. Corden also cautioned fans not to expect either project to appear immediately or launch as surprise releases.

That claim added further weight to speculation which has been floating around the industry since 2024 that Bethesda may be revisiting some of the franchise’s most beloved titles.

If those reports are accurate, the McFarlane listing could be the first public hint that the Fallout 3 project is moving closer to reality.

A Fallout Remaster Would Make Strategic Sense Right Now

One of the more curious things about the Fallout franchise right now is how popular it is again, despite the lack of a new mainline game.

Bethesda currently has a major hit on its hands thanks to the ‘Fallout’ TV series on Prime Video. The show reignited interest in the entire franchise, sending several of the older games back up the sales charts and bringing a wave of new players into the wasteland.

However, there has not been a new Fallout game released to capitalise on that renewed attention.

At the moment, the Fallout ecosystem is made up of a few key pieces. Fallout 76 continues to run as Bethesda’s ongoing online game with regular updates, and the mobile title Fallout Shelter remains available across multiple platforms. Meanwhile, Fallout 5 has been confirmed to be in development, but it is still likely years away as Bethesda focuses on completing The Elder Scrolls VI first.

That leaves a sizeable gap in the franchise’s release schedule.

A Fallout 3 remaster would be a logical way to fill that void, giving fans something new to play while the next main entry slowly takes shape.

Bethesda has already demonstrated this approach with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, which performed solidly despite the original game already being available across numerous platforms. The studio has never been shy about revisiting its back catalogue either. Skyrim alone has seen so many re-releases over the years that it has practically become an industry meme.

Why Fallout 3 Is the Obvious Candidate

If Bethesda were going to revisit one of the older Fallout titles, Fallout 3 makes a lot of sense.

Released in 2008, the game marked a huge turning point for the franchise. The first two Fallout titles were isometric RPGs developed in the late 1990s. Fallout 3 was the game that fully transformed the series into a 3D open-world RPG, redefining what Fallout looked and felt like for a new generation of players.

For many fans, it was their first introduction to the wasteland.

Because of that legacy, a remaster would both modernise one of the franchise’s most important games and introduce it to players who may have only discovered Fallout through the TV series or later titles like Fallout 4.

What About Fallout 1 and 2?

Revisiting Fallout 3 also raises an interesting question about the franchise’s earliest entries.

The original Fallout and Fallout 2 are hugely influential RPGs, but they are very different from modern Fallout games. Both titles use a turn-based, isometric perspective that reflects their late 1990s design.

A simple remaster could preserve those games with updated visuals and modern compatibility, but they would likely appeal primarily to dedicated RPG fans.

Another possibility would be a full remake, rebuilding those classic stories using the modern open-world style introduced in Fallout 3. That would be a far more ambitious undertaking, but it could bring the earliest Fallout narratives to a much wider audience.

For now though, Fallout 3 remains the most obvious place to start.

Whether the McFarlane toy listing turns out to be an accidental leak or simply a catalogue mistake remains to be seen. But if Bethesda is indeed planning to return to the Capital Wasteland, it would be arriving at a time when interest in the Fallout universe has rarely been higher.
