The Wilkerson family is heading back to screens this April, as Disney+ has unveiled the trailer for ‘Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair‘, the four-part revival of the much-loved comedy. The new event series brings back a large chunk of the original cast, along with some fresh faces, for what looks set to be another round of chaos, shouting, and deeply questionable family bonding.
The synopsis for ‘Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair’ teases that Malcolm has spent more than a decade keeping both himself and his daughter at a safe distance from his family. Naturally, that plan falls apart when Hal and Lois demand he show up for their 40th anniversary party, dragging him right back into the madness he thought he’d escaped. Which, for this family, really is the most on-brand way possible to stage a reunion.
Returning for the revival are Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) as Hal, Frankie Muniz (The Black String) as Malcolm, Jane Kaczmarek (The Kominsky Method) as Lois, Christopher Kennedy Masterson (Scary Movie 2) as Francis, Justin Berfield (The Fairly OddParents) as Reese, and Emy Coligado (Crossing Jordan) as Piama. Joining them are Keeley Karsten (The Fabelmans) as Leah, Malcolm’s daughter, Vaughan Murrae (Before I Change My Mind) as Kelly, Malcolm’s youngest sibling, Kiana Madeira (Fear Street) as Tristan, Malcolm’s girlfriend, and Caleb Ellsworth-Clark (Fargo) stepping in as Dewey.
That mix of returning cast and new additions should give ‘Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair’ plenty to play with. The original series thrived on its gloriously unhinged family dynamic, and from the look of this revival, nobody has suddenly become calm, reasonable, or emotionally balanced. A tragedy, obviously.
Behind the camera, the revival comes from Disney Branded Television, with 20th Television and New Regency producing. Original creator Linwood Boomer returns as writer and executive producer, which should help keep the tone firmly in line with what made the original work so well. Bryan Cranston also executive produces alongside Tracy Katsky Boomer, Gail Berman, and New Regency’s Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Natalie Lehmann. Ken Kwapis directs all four episodes and also executive produces, with Jimmy Simons and Laura Delahaye serving as co-executive producers.
For anyone wanting a refresher before the new episodes arrive, all 151 episodes of the original ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ are already available to stream on Disney+.
‘Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair‘ premieres Friday, 10th April 2026 on Disney+ in the UK.
