Netflix Renews ‘Virgin River’ For Season 8

by Dave Elliott

Netflix has officially renewed Virgin River for an eighth season, giving fans even more time in the ever-chaotic, ever-comforting small town with Mel, Jack, Doc, Hope, and the rest of the residents.

The romantic drama remains one of Netflix’s longest-running scripted series, and the renewal news lands as the show continues to be one of the streamer’s most reliable comfort-watch hits. Based on the books by Robyn Carr, the series follows Mel Sheridan as she relocates to the remote Northern California town of Virgin River and gradually builds a new life there, finding love, friendship, and no shortage of drama along the way.

Alexandra Breckenridge (This Is Us) and Martin Henderson (Grey’s Anatomy) lead the cast, alongside Tim Matheson (Hart of Dixie), Annette O’Toole (Smallville), Colin Lawrence (Riverdale), Benjamin Hollingsworth (Code Black), Sarah Dugdale (Arrow), Marco Grazzini (The Flash), Zibby Allen (Nancy Drew), and Kai Bradbury (Warrior).

Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith said: “On behalf of myself and the whole Virgin River family, we’re eternally grateful to Netflix and to the fans for allowing us to continue on this journey with these beloved characters.”

Netflix has confirmed that ‘Virgin River’ Season 8 will run for 10 episodes. Story details are being kept under wraps for now, although it is safe to assume the new season will continue to follow the personal and romantic ups and downs of the town’s residents without the series suddenly turning into ‘The Last of Us’. Probably.

For now, Netflix has not announced when the new season will begin filming or when it will land on the service, but the renewal at least means fans can settle in knowing there is more to come.

Virgin River Season 8 does not yet have a premiere date but will air on Netflix in the UK. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
