Apple TV Drops First Teaser For ‘Cape Fear’ With Javier Bardem, Amy Adams & Patrick Wilson

by Dave Elliott

Apple TV has unveiled the first teaser for Cape Fear, its new psychological horror thriller series, bringing a fresh small-screen take on the story first made famous by the 1962 film and Martin Scorsese’s 1991 remake. The limited series lands this June, with a cast led by Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men), Amy Adams (Arrival) and Patrick Wilson (Insidious).

Inspired by the Scorsese version and rooted in John D. MacDonald’s novel The Executioners, the series follows married attorneys Anna and Tom Bowden, whose lives are turned upside down when Max Cady, the killer they helped put behind bars, is released from prison and comes looking for revenge. That setup alone is enough to make this one feel like proper nightmare fuel, but with Nick Antosca (A Friend of the Family, The Act) steering things, it also looks like Apple is leaning hard into the psychological horror side of the material.

Alongside Bardem, Adams and Wilson, the cast also includes Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Malia Pyles and CCH Pounder. Behind the camera, the pedigree is equally stacked, with Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg both executive producing, and Morten Tyldum (Silo, The Imitation Game) directing the pilot. It is a seriously heavyweight team for what looks like one of Apple TV’s darker dramas to date.

The series runs for 10 episodes, with Apple dropping the first two chapters together before moving to weekly releases through the end of July. Given the cast, the creative team, and the fact Apple seems to be pitching this as one of its big summer launches, this could be one to keep a very close eye on.

Cape Fear premieres Friday, 5th June 2026 on Apple TV.
