Prime Video has unveiled the official trailer for ‘Citadel‘ Season 2, confirming the spy thriller returns this May with a bigger mission, new recruits, and rather more riding on it than a standard second season.
After a long gap since its 2023 launch, ‘Citadel’ is back with Richard Madden (Bodyguard), Priyanka Chopra Jonas (Heads of State), and Stanley Tucci (The Devil Wears Prada) reprising their roles as Mason Kane, Nadia Sinh, and Bernard Orlick. This time, the trio are pulled back into action when a dangerous new threat emerges, forcing them to recruit fresh operatives for another globe-spanning battle against Manticore.
The new season also expands the cast with Jack Reynor (The Perfect Couple) joining as Hutch, Matt Berry (What We Do in the Shadows) as Franke Sharpe, and Lina El Arabi (Dark Hearts) as Celine. They are joined by Merle Dandridge (The Last of Us), Gabriel Leone (Senna), and Rayna Vallandingham (Cobra Kai), while Lesley Manville (The Crown) and Ashleigh Cummings (The Goldfinch) also return.
Prime Video is clearly still backing ‘Citadel’ as a flagship property, but Season 2 arrives with a little more pressure attached than usual. The wider franchise has already been trimmed back, with ‘Citadel: Diana’ and ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ no longer continuing as standalone shows, and elements of those stories being folded into the mothership series. Add to that the exit of former Amazon MGM Studios chief Jennifer Salke, who was widely seen as one of the project’s biggest internal champions, and this return now feels like a fairly important moment for the future of the franchise.
That does not mean ‘Citadel’ is on its last legs, but it does suggest Season 2 may need to do more than simply return. It has to prove the expensive, globe-spanning spy universe still has room to grow. So while the new trailer promises bigger action, more betrayals, and a broader ensemble, the bigger test may be whether this next chapter can convince Prime Video there is still a long-term future for the franchise beyond this run.
Behind the camera, the series comes from Amazon MGM Studios and the Russo Brothers’ AGBO, with David Weil serving as showrunner, director and executive producer. Joe Russo and Greg Yaitanes also direct, alongside a long list of returning executive producers.
‘Citadel‘ Season 2 premieres Wednesday, 6th May 2026 on Prime Video.
