Apple TV Drops Full ‘Star City’ Trailer As ‘For All Mankind’ Spin-Off Nears Launch

by Dave Elliott

Apple TV has dropped the full trailer for Star City, the upcoming Soviet-side companion to ‘For All Mankind’, ahead of its launch this May. The new series heads behind the Iron Curtain to retell the space race from a very different point of view, and the latest footage suggests Apple is leaning hard into the paranoia, pressure and political tension of life inside the Soviet programme.

Rather than following NASA, ‘Star City’ shifts the focus to the cosmonauts, engineers and intelligence officers inside the USSR’s space effort after the Soviet Union becomes the first nation to put a man on the moon. That setup gives the spin-off a much colder, more covert feel than its parent series, trading some of the wide-eyed wonder for something far more tense, suspicious and claustrophobic.

The cast is led by Rhys Ifans (House of the Dragon), alongside Anna Maxwell Martin (Motherland), Agnes O’Casey (Black Doves), Alice Englert (Bad Behaviour), Solly McLeod (House of the Dragon), Adam Nagaitis (Chernobyl), Ruby Ashbourne Serkis (I, Jack Wright), Josef Davies (Andor) and Priya Kansara (Bridgerton).

Behind the camera, ‘Star City’ comes from Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert and Ronald D. Moore, with Nedivi and Wolpert serving as showrunners and executive producing alongside Moore, Maril Davis, Andrew Chambliss and Steve Oster. Produced by Sony Pictures Television, the series looks set to expand the ‘For All Mankind’ universe by showing the same alt-history battleground from the other side of the Cold War.

Star City premieres Friday, 29th May 2026, on Apple TV, with two episodes at launch, followed by one new episode every Friday through Friday, 10th July 2026.
