Marvel Animation’s Emmy-nominated ‘X-Men ’97’ returns to Disney+ this July for a 2nd Season, with a brand-new trailer and poster now released for the acclaimed animated revival.
The first season proved to be something of a mutant-sized hit for Disney+, becoming one of the most-watched Disney+ Original animated series, based on hours streamed globally. It also went down extremely well with critics and fans, currently sitting at 99% “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes.
Season 2 of ‘X-Men ’97’ continues the story of the heroic mutant team after they are divided and thrown across different eras in time, forcing them to fight their way back home. Meanwhile, back in the 1990s, suspicious foes and new strains of mutant intolerance are beginning to rise in the wake of the X-Men’s absence. So, you know, just a nice relaxing bit of time-travelling mutant trauma.
The 2nd Season will run for 9 episodes, with the returning voice cast including Ross Marquand (The Walking Dead) as Professor X, Matthew Waterson (Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia) as Magneto, Ray Chase (Final Fantasy XV) as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale (Mass Effect) as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith (Dark Matter) as Storm, Cal Dodd (X-Men: The Animated Series) as Wolverine, Lenore Zann (X-Men: The Animated Series) as Rogue, and George Buza (X-Men: The Animated Series) as Beast.
Behind the scenes, the series is executive produced by Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, Julia Lewald, Eric Lewald, Larry Houston, and Beau DeMayo. Jake Castorena serves as supervising producer. Episodes are written by JB Ballard, Beau DeMayo, Bailey Moore, Antony Sellitti, Brian Ford Sullivan, and Mariah Wilson, with Emmett Yonemura and Chase Conley as episodic directors.
‘X-Men ’97’ Season 2 premieres Wednesday, 1st July 2026 on Disney+.
