Starz has set a September US premiere date for ‘Outlander: Blood Of My Blood’ Season 2, with the ‘Outlander’ prequel returning on World Outlander Day, and a new teaser giving fans their first proper taste of what comes next.
The romantic time-travelling drama will return to Starz in the US on Friday, 18th September 2026. For UK viewers, the series premieres on MGM+ from Saturday, 19th September 2026.
The return also comes hot on the heels of the main ‘Outlander’ series finale, meaning the franchise is very much continuing, just with the focus shifted back to the parents of Claire and Jamie. Season 1 introduced viewers to two different, but equally passionate, love stories, as Claire’s parents and Jamie’s parents met and fought to be together against the odds. It also revealed just how much influence the two couples had on one another as their paths began to intersect.
The second season continues the story of the show’s two central couples, as love, family loyalty, time travel and a brewing war all collide in the Highlands. Season 1 ended with Henry and Julia Beauchamp, played by Jeremy Irvine (War Horse) and Hermione Corfield (The Road Dance), reunited at the standing stones of Craigh na Dun, hoping to return to their own time and to their young daughter, Claire.
However, the new teaser suggests things are not going to be quite that simple, which is very on-brand for this franchise. The first glimpse of Season 2 picks up from that moment and shows a distraught Julia alone with their baby. Meanwhile, Henry finds himself separated from the woman he loves, struggling with his mental health as he tries to find his way back to her.
Elsewhere, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, played by Jamie Roy (Condor’s Nest) and Harriet Slater (Pennyworth), also face a rather massive problem. Their forbidden romance may have survived family opposition, but their escape is cut short as the fiery crosses are lit and the 1715 Jacobite Rising begins. In Season 1, they chose each other over their families. In Season 2, clan loyalties, war and duty come crashing back into the equation.
As the new season unfolds, both young couples will once again be tested and separated by forces far beyond their control, as every clan is forced to choose a side in the rebellion.
The returning cast also includes Tony Curran (Mary & George) as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, Séamus McLean Ross (Rebus) as Colum MacKenzie, Sam Retford (Ackley Bridge) as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander (Pistol) as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, and Conor MacNeill (Industry) as Ned Gowan.
Behind the scenes, Matthew B. Roberts serves as showrunner on both ‘Outlander’ and ‘Outlander: Blood Of My Blood’. Roberts executive produces alongside Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Toni Graphia, Luke Schelhaas, Michael Wilson, Jim Kohlberg and Luke Parker Bowles. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television, and expands the world of Diana Gabaldon’s hugely successful Outlander book series, which has sold an estimated 50 million copies worldwide.
‘Outlander: Blood Of My Blood’ Season 2 premieres Friday, 18th September 2026 on Starz in the US and Saturday, 19th September 2026 on MGM+ in the UK.
