Apple TV has released the trailer for ‘Lucky’, a new limited series starring and executive-produced by Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), which arrives globally this July.
Based on the New York Times bestselling novel and Reese’s Book Club pick of the same name by Marissa Stapley, the series follows Lucky, a con artist whose life takes a very sharp turn when a multimillion-dollar heist goes badly wrong. Forced to go on the run, she finds herself hunted by both the FBI and a ruthless crime boss, leaving her fighting for survival and looking for a way out.
Alongside Taylor-Joy, the series features a rather impressive ensemble cast, including Annette Bening (Nyad, American Beauty), Timothy Olyphant (Justified, Deadwood), Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (King Richard, Lovecraft Country), Drew Starkey (Outer Banks, Queer), Clifton Collins Jr. (Westworld, Pacific Rim) and William Fichtner (Prison Break, Mom).
The limited series comes from Apple Studios and Hello Sunshine, with Jonathan Tropper (See, Banshee) creating, co-showrunning, writing and executive producing through his Tropper Ink banner, under his overall deal with Apple TV. Cassie Pappas also serves as co-showrunner and executive producer, with Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter executive producing for Hello Sunshine.
Taylor-Joy executive produces through her production banner LadyKiller, with Jonathan van Tulleken, who directed the pilot, also executive producing.
Hello Sunshine has already built a strong relationship with Apple TV, having produced a string of Apple Originals including ‘The Morning Show’, ‘The Last Thing He Told Me’, ‘Truth Be Told’ and ‘Surface’. With ‘Lucky’, they are diving into a pulpy crime thriller setup, mixing cons, a botched heist, the FBI, and a dangerous crime boss, which sounds like a very solid playground for Taylor-Joy.
‘Lucky’ premieres Wednesday, 15th July 2026 on Apple TV, with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through Wednesday, 19th August 2026.
