Paramount+ has confirmed that ‘Lioness‘ will return for Season 3 this August, with Zoe Saldaña (Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy) and Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies, The Undoing) heading back into Taylor Sheridan’s world of espionage, shifting loyalties, and extremely stressful government meetings.
The female-led spy thriller comes from creator and writer Taylor Sheridan, the man behind Yellowstone, Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown and approximately 74% of Paramount+’s drama output at this point. The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios.
Season 3 sees the Lioness team deployed on what is described as its “most personal assignment yet”, as the operation expands onto a global scale. Hidden networks, foreign operatives and personal betrayals collide, while Joe, played by Saldaña, finds herself caught between duty and home as unseen forces begin closing in around her.
As strange patterns emerge, names vanish, and paths begin to rearrange, Joe is guided once again by Kaitlyn, played by Kidman, and Westfield, played by Michael Kelly (House of Cards, Jack Ryan). The mission forces Joe to confront enemies operating in the shadows, as a war that was once professional starts reaching into every part of her personal life.
Alongside Saldaña, Kidman and Kelly, the cast also includes Morgan Freeman (The Shawshank Redemption, The Dark Knight), Laysla De Oliveira (Locke & Key), Dave Annable (Brothers & Sisters), Jill Wagner (Teen Wolf), LaMonica Garrett (1883), James Jordan (Yellowstone), Genesis Rodriguez (The Umbrella Academy), Austin Hébert (The Last Ship), Jonah Wharton, Thad Luckinbill (The Young and the Restless), Hannah Love Lanier (Special Ops: Lioness) and Ian Bohen (Teen Wolf, Yellowstone).
Lioness is executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, David C. Glasser, Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Jill Wagner, David Lemanowicz, Geyer Kosinski and Keith Cox.
