Elle: Legally Blonde Prequel Lands Trailer As Prime Video Renews Series For Season 2

by Dave Elliott

Prime Video has released the official trailer and key art for Elle, the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series, which premieres this July, and has already been renewed for a second season before the first has even launched.

Produced by Amazon MGM Studios in association with Hello Sunshine, ‘Elle’ takes us back to 1995 to meet Elle Woods long before Harvard, law school, and courtroom victories in pink. This is Elle as a high school student, trying to navigate tricky friendships, forbidden romance, questionable fashion choices, and the usual teenage chaos that comes with discovering who you are.

Season 1 follows Elle before she was a fish-out-of-water at Harvard, instead finding herself as “a fish in the tumultuous waters of high school.” Through it all, she uses her family as a touchstone and forms an even tighter bond with her mother, proving that they can get through anything life throws their way as long as they have each other. With every challenge, she edges closer to becoming the Elle Woods we know and love today.

Lexi Minetree stars as Elle Woods, with June Diane Raphael as Elle’s mother Eva, and Tom Everett Scott as her father Wyatt. The cast also includes Jacob Moskovitz, Gabrielle Policano, Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker, and Amy Pietz. Recurring cast members include Brad Harder, Chloe Wepper, Danielle Chand, David Burtka, James Van Der Beek, Jessica Belkin, Kayla Maisonet, Lisa Yamada, Logan Shroyer, Matt Oberg, and Sharon Taylor.

The series is created by Laura Kittrell (High School, Insecure), who also serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Caroline Dries. Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Amanda Brown, Marc Platt and Brad Van Arragon also executive produce. Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect) directed the first two episodes and also serves as an executive producer.

The early renewal is a pretty strong vote of confidence from Prime Video, and not entirely surprising. The Legally Blonde franchise still has a lot of affection around it, Reese Witherspoon is involved behind the scenes, and a 90s-set teen prequel about Elle Woods feels like exactly the sort of thing that could find a very pink, very enthusiastic audience.

ElleSeason 1 premieres Wednesday, 1st July 2026 on Prime Video. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
