ITVX has picked up the second season of animated comedy ‘Universal Basic Guys’, with the Hoagies brothers returning to the streaming service this August. The complete first season is already available to stream on ITVX for anyone looking to catch up.
Created and executive produced by brothers Adam and Craig Malamut, the series follows Mark and Hank Hoagies, two brothers who lose their jobs to automation and begin receiving $3,000 a month through a new basic income programme.
With plenty of free time, a steady supply of free money and absolutely no idea what to do with either, Mark and Hank attempt to find some purpose in a world which no longer seems to need them.
Season two of ‘Universal Basic Guys’ brings in a sizeable collection of guest stars, including Ally Maki in the recurring role of Andrea and Brandon Wardell in the recurring role of Darren.
They are joined by Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) as Jessica, Tony Hale (Arrested Development) as Trent, Cheri Oteri (Saturday Night Live) as Renee, Jimmi Simpson (House of Cards) as Ray, Thomas Lennon (Animal Control) as King Tony and Steve Buscemi (The Sopranos) as Chippy.
Additional guest stars include Zach Cherry (Severance) as Norman Hockey, Jon Glaser (Girls) as JD, Tim Meadows (Saturday Night Live) as George, Kate Flannery (The Office) as Mary, Joe Lo Truglio (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Superbad) as Bouchard and Dr. Traps, and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Severance, Trapped) as Grumpmeester and Lawyer.
The animated comedy is co-produced by FOX Entertainment through Bento Box Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television. Adam and Craig Malamut serve as executive producers, while Rob Rosell (Dave, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) is executive producer and showrunner.
