Alexa Crowe is heading back to British screens this August, as ‘My Life Is Murder’ returns for its fifth season on U&alibi.
Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess) reprises her role as Alexa, the sharp-witted investigator who has an uncanny ability to uncover the truth behind even the most baffling crimes. Naturally, she is not tackling them alone, with her trusted collection of friends, family and occasionally useful associates returning to help.
Tech whiz Madison, played by Ebony Vagulans (The Furies), café owner Reuben, played by Joe Naufahu (Game of Thrones), and Alexa’s brother Will, played by Martin Henderson (Virgin River), all remain close at hand. Detective Harry, played by Rawiri Jobe (Shortland Street), continues to be a reliable ally, while Alexa’s cantankerous cat Chowder remains committed to causing trouble whenever possible.
Season 5 of ‘My Life Is Murder’ sees Alexa attempting to enjoy some well-earned sunshine in Fiji. Unsurprisingly, the holiday does not remain relaxing for long, as a familiar foe resurfaces and pulls her into another dangerous investigation.
Catching a killer is not the only unfinished business waiting for Alexa. She is also reunited with Jesse, her former police partner, raising the possibility that he might just be the one who got away. With her whānau backing her every step of the way, Alexa throws herself into a fresh collection of high-stakes cases where old secrets refuse to stay buried and justice is rarely as straightforward as it first appears.
The eight-episode season opens with “Gimme an M”, which begins when influencer Wyatt livestreams his own poisoning. Alexa’s investigation leads her into the highly competitive world of his girlfriend’s elite cheerleading squad, where publicity schemes, fake relationships and hidden affairs provide no shortage of possible motives.
When the poison is traced back to Wyatt’s ice bath, the suspects’ alibis begin to collapse and tensions within the team quickly rise. Alexa must work out which cheerleader is responsible before the fractured squad claims another victim.
Although U&alibi is part of the UKTV family, it is a pay-TV channel and is not included with the free U streaming service. Viewers can watch the channel through Sky, Virgin Media and NOW, with episodes also available on demand through those platforms.
