‘Ghosts US’ Season 5 Sets August UK Premiere On BBC Three & iPlayer

by Dave Elliott

The doors of Woodstone Mansion are opening again, as Ghosts US returns for Season 5 on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer this August.

The new season contains 22 episodes, beginning with “Soul Custody”, which picks up after Jay made a deal with Elias Woodstone. Sam, Jay and the ghosts attempt to extricate him from the agreement, while Isaac helps Patience through a crisis of confidence. Elsewhere, Pete and Alberta must navigate the fallout from their kiss, proving romantic complications are not limited to the living.

The supernatural comedy stars Rose McIver (iZombie) as Sam and Utkarsh Ambudkar (Never Have I Ever) as Jay, the living owners of Woodstone Mansion, who share their home with an increasingly complicated collection of spirits.

The ghostly ensemble includes Brandon Scott Jones (The Good Place) as Isaac, Danielle Pinnock (Young Sheldon) as Alberta, Richie Moriarty (The Tick) as Pete, Rebecca Wisocky (Devious Maids) as Hetty, Asher Grodman (Succession) as Trevor, Román Zaragoza (Stumptown) as Sasappis, Sheila Carrasco (The Good Place) as Flower and Devan Chandler Long (Doom Patrol) as Thorfinn.

“Soul Custody” also sees Mary Holland (The Big Door Prize) return as Patience, alongside Matt Walsh (Veep) as the deeply untrustworthy Elias Woodstone.

Based on the original BBC comedy, ‘Ghosts US’ has long since developed its own supernatural mythology, romances and peculiar rules for the dead. Season 5 continues directly from the previous season’s cliffhanger, so viewers may want to catch up before entering into any legally questionable agreements with the deceased.

There is also good news beyond the new episodes, as ‘Ghosts US’ has already been renewed for Season 6. Woodstone Mansion will remain very much occupied.

It is also a particularly good time to be a fan of the franchise. The excellent Australian adaptation, Ghosts Australia, recently landed on BBC iPlayer, bringing a new collection of spirits and a distinctly Aussie spin to the original setup. The beloved UK original, Ghosts, is also available to stream on iPlayer.

And the Button House gang are not finished yet. Ghosts: The Possession of Button House is a new feature-length comedy film continuing the hit BBC sitcom, with Lionsgate UK bringing the ghosts to cinemas across the UK and Ireland this October.
