Sky has released the first teaser and images for ‘WAR‘, a new legal drama starring Dominic West (The Crown, The Wire) and Sienna Miller (Anatomy of a Scandal, American Sniper), which will launch this October on Sky and streaming service NOW.
Created by George Kay (Lupin, Hijack), the eight-part series takes viewers inside the high-stakes world of two prestigious London law firms, where ambition is currency, betrayal is strategy and winning is everything.
Sky and HBO clearly have plenty of confidence in the drama too, having already handed it a two-season order, with production currently underway on the second run before the first has even aired.
Series one centres on the explosive divorce of British tech entrepreneur Morgan Henderson, played by Dominic West (The Crown, The Wire), and international film star Carla Duval, played by Sienna Miller (Anatomy of a Scandal, American Sniper).
Their separation sparks a headline-grabbing legal battle between rival firms Cathcarts & Sons and Taylor & Byrne, both of which are prepared to do whatever it takes to secure victory for their client.
Caught in the middle is ambitious young lawyer Jonathan “Johnny” Warren, played by Archie Renaux (Alien: Romulus, Upgraded), who is drawn into a ruthless world where the legal arguments may only be the beginning of the fight.
The ensemble also includes Phoebe Fox (The Great) as Serena Byrne and James McArdle (Mare of Easttown) as Nicholas Taylor, partners in life and business at Taylor & Byrne.
Their fierce rivals at Cathcarts & Sons are Beatrice “Queen Bea” Ubosi, played by Nina Sosanya (Screw, His Dark Materials), and St John Smallwood, played by Pip Torrens (The Crown, Preacher).
The wider cast features Celia Imrie (The Diplomat), Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso), Emma Laird (Mayor of Kingstown), Aran Murphy (The Tourist), Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife), Adrian Scarborough (The Chelsea Detective), Shaheen Jafargholi (EastEnders), Akiya Henry (The Diplomat), Honor Swinton Byrne (The Souvenir), Miles Jupp (Rev.), Kartanya Maynard (Deadloch), Alexandra Mardell (Coronation Street), Dylan Murphy (The Tourist), Mark Quartley (The Ipcress File) and Steve Furst (The Walk-In).
While the first legal battle focuses on divorce, the already commissioned second series will shift to an explosive defamation case.
Marisa Tomei (Spider-Man: No Way Home), Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire) and David Harewood (Supergirl) will lead that story as their lawyers become caught up in another headline-making clash.
‘WAR’ is co-produced by New Pictures and Observatory Pictures in association with Sky and HBO. George Kay created, wrote and executive produces the series, with Ben Taylor serving as lead director and Laurie Borg producing.
The drama will air on Sky and NOW in the UK, Ireland and Italy. It will also air on HBO and stream on HBO Max across a number of international territories, including the USA.
