ITV has released the full trailer for ‘The Blame‘, a new six-part crime thriller starring Michelle Keegan (Fool Me Once, Brassic) and Douglas Booth (The Sandman, The Dirt), which arrives on ITV1 and ITVX this September.
Set in the seemingly quiet town of Wakestead, ‘The Blame’ sees Keegan play DI Emma Crane alongside Booth as DI Tom Radley. The pair find themselves investigating a tragic death which quickly develops into something far more complicated, leading them into a tangled web of lies, institutional cover-ups and moral compromise.
As the investigation deepens and trust begins to fracture, Crane not only has a murder enquiry to solve but also has to contend with the increasingly treacherous politics inside her own police team. As the new trailer makes clear, there are plenty of secrets buried beneath Wakestead’s peaceful surface, and apparently no shortage of people who would rather they stayed there.
Joining Keegan and Booth is Ian Hart (Mr Bates vs. The Post Office, The Last Kingdom) as DCI Kenneth Walker, alongside Nathan Mensah as DC Lewis Brimah and Nigel Boyle (Line of Duty, Peaky Blinders) as digital forensic technician Neil Shergill. Joe Armstrong (Gentleman Jack, Black Mirror) plays ice-skating coach Kyle Frasier, with Matilda Freeman (How to Get to Heaven from Belfast, Passenger) as Sophie Madsen.
The Wakestead Police team also includes Gavin Spokes (House of the Dragon, Slow Horses) as DC Joel Stevens, Josh Bolt (Masters of the Air, Last Tango in Halifax) as DC Douglas James and Ceallach Spellman (Cheaters, White Lines) as PC Callum Drummond.
The drama is based on Charlotte Langley’s debut novel of the same name and has been adapted for television by Emmy Award nominee Megan Gallagher (All Her Fault, Wolf), who also serves as lead writer and executive producer. Ashley Sanders writes episode three, while Namsi Khan co-writes episode four with Gallagher.
Produced by Quay Street Productions, the company behind Fool Me Once, After The Flood and Nolly, the six-part series was filmed in and around London. Matt Strevens (Capital, Cucumber) serves as series producer, with Bex Rycroft (The Crow Girl, Screw) directing episodes one to three and Claire Tailyour (The Wives, Beyond Paradise) directing episodes four to six.
‘The Blame’ premieres September 2026 on ITV1 and ITVX, with the drama also airing on STV and streaming on STV Player.
