David Fincher’s ‘Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood’ Sequel Gets Official Title: ‘The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth’

Netflix has finally confirmed the official title and release plans for ‘The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth’, David Fincher’s new film starring Brad Pitt (F1) as Cliff Booth, which will hit IMAX cinemas in November before heading to Netflix in December.

For reasons best known to Netflix’s marketing department, neither the press release nor its accompanying Netflix article actually mentions ‘Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood’. Which is rather odd, because this is, by any sensible definition, a sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film.

Brad Pitt is reprising the role of Cliff Booth, the laid-back stuntman who accompanied Rick Dalton through Tarantino’s alternative take on 1969 Hollywood. This time, the story jumps forward eight years to 1977, with Netflix teasing that it is now a “very different Hollywood”.

There is another pretty substantial connection to the original too. Tarantino himself has written the screenplay, although he has handed directing duties over to David Fincher. That also reunites Fincher and Pitt, who previously worked together on Se7en, Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Joining Brad Pitt are Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown), Scott Caan (Hawaii Five-0), Carla Gugino (The Fall of the House of Usher), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen) and Peter Weller (RoboCop).

Netflix is also giving the film a more substantial big-screen outing than most of its movies. ‘The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth’ will receive an exclusive two-week run in IMAX cinemas globally in November before making the jump to Netflix the following month.

Ceán Chaffin and Pitt produce the film, with Erik Messerschmidt serving as director of photography, Donald Graham Burt as production designer and Kirk Baxter editing. Trish Summerville handles costume design, Ren Klyce is sound designer, and Dave Macomber serves as stunt coordinator.

‘The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth’ premieres Wednesday, 25th November 2026 in IMAX cinemas globally for a two-week exclusive engagement, before landing Wednesday, 23rd December 2026 on Netflix.
