Apple TV has unveiled the first look at ‘12 12 12‘, a new European heist thriller starring Anthony Mackie (Twisted Metal) and Jamie Dornan (The Tourist), which will make its global debut this November.
The eight-part drama comes with a particularly fun structural hook. Each episode of ’12 12 12′ unfolds across three different timelines surrounding the same heist: the 12 months of planning, the 12 hours of the robbery itself, and the 12 days that follow.
At the centre of the story is a disgraced FBI agent, played by Anthony Mackie (Twisted Metal), and an American career criminal, played by Jamie Dornan (The Tourist), who become locked in a zero-sum game of cat and mouse across Europe. Their paths collide around an ambitious raid on a bank vault buried deep beneath the streets of Zurich.
Alongside Mackie and Dornan, the ensemble includes Jack Kesy (12 Strong, Hellboy: The Crooked Man), Agathe Rousselle (Titane), Sallie Harmsen (Blade Runner 2049), José Garcia (The Ax, Now You See Me) and Kali Reis (True Detective, Mercy).
The series is created and executive produced by Dudi Appleton and Jim Keeble, with Emmy-nominated and BAFTA-winning filmmaker Kari Skogland directing multiple episodes, including the pilot, as well as executive producing.
Mackie and Dornan also serve as executive producers, with Mackie producing through his Make It With Gravy banner alongside Samantha Corbin-Miller, David Knoller and Jason Spire for Inspire Entertainment. Paramount Television Studios and Anonymous Content produce the series.
Apple TV will launch ’12 12 12′ with its first two episodes, followed by a new episode every Friday through Christmas Day. And with three timelines constantly moving around one enormous Zurich bank job, it sounds like the sort of heist where keeping track of who knows what, and when they know it, could be half the fun.
