Two major CBS spin-offs are finally crossing the Atlantic, as ‘Sheriff Country‘ and ‘Boston Blue‘ both land on Paramount+ UK this September.
It’s an interesting move, as you might have expected both shows to end up on Sky. ‘Sheriff Country’ expands the world of ‘Fire Country’, which airs on Sky Witness in the UK, while ‘Boston Blue’ continues the universe of ‘Blue Bloods’, another series which has long had a home on Sky.
However, they are both CBS Studios productions, so there is also a certain logic to Paramount keeping hold of its own franchises for Paramount+ UK. Disney has increasingly done the same thing with its content on Disney+ UK, and with Paramount now under the new Skydance management, retaining more of its biggest in-house shows for its own streaming service would make a lot of sense.
‘Sheriff Country’ stars Morena Baccarin (Homeland, Gotham) as Mickey Fox, the straight-talking sheriff of Edgewater and stepsister of Sharon Leone from ‘Fire Country’. While Sharon and the Cal Fire crew tackle burning buildings, Mickey deals with the criminal side of life in the town, all while juggling her complicated family.
The drama also stars Matt Lauria (Kingdom, Friday Night Lights) as Deputy Nathan Boone, W. Earl Brown (Deadwood) as Mickey’s ex-con father Wes, Michele Weaver (Council of Dads) as Cassidy Campbell, Christopher Gorham (Covert Affairs) as Travis Fraley, Amanda Arcuri (Degrassi: The Next Generation) as Skye Fraley, and Ian Quinlan (The Long Road Home) as Hank Iglesias.
Meanwhile, ‘Boston Blue’ sees Donnie Wahlberg (Blue Bloods) return as Detective Danny Reagan, relocating from New York to Boston and joining the Boston Police Department. There he is partnered with Lena Silver, played by Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek: Discovery), who comes from another formidable law enforcement family.
The Silver clan includes District Attorney Mae Silver, played by Gloria Reuben (ER), Police Superintendent Sarah Silver, played by Maggie Lawson (Psych), rookie cop Jonah Silver, played by Marcus Scribner (Black-ish), and Reverend Edwin Peters, played by Ernie Hudson (Oz). Danny also finds himself reconnecting with his son Sean, played by Mika Amonsen (Thanksgiving), who is now living in Boston.
Whether these two arrivals are simply the result of individual licensing deals or a sign that Paramount intends to keep more of its CBS franchises on Paramount+ UK remains to be seen. Either way, it is a notable shift given the existing Sky connections of both parent shows, and gives Paramount+ UK two sizeable US network dramas for its September line-up.
‘Sheriff Country‘ Season 1 premieres Sunday, 13th September 2026 on Paramount+ UK.
‘Boston Blue‘ Season 1 premieres Thursday, 24th September 2026 on Paramount+ UK.
