So Channel 5 are doing a good job of burying the new season of the X-Files in the schedules. 9pm has become 10pm and next week it’s on until 11pm and also showing two episodes in one night. They must not be getting ratings, therefore are rushing through the season now. They’ll catch up with US broadcast soon, which makes no sense as to why they delayed the start of the season until February. No wonder they messed things up Gotham when they continue to treat American imports with such discord.

We made a low-budget, but kinda cool version of the x-files intro

I have been waiting for the X-files to return for a very long time. All I need now is for Millennium to come back and I will be jumping for joy. Hope the 8th February is correct for the premiere I can’t wait much longer. I think we should have seen it on UK screens much sooner, some US shows are seen here within 24 hours of the US such as Game of Thrones, True Detective etc…., but I suppose we can’t have everything our own way can we?

you should try watching [removed – please don’t post links to illegal streaming sites] because they have everything on there and you can watch it for free online

Thanks for the reply Rachael I am certainly getting to the impatient stage and I really want to watch it, but I think I can wait just a bit longer now we have a confirmed date. I hope it’s as good as people are saying I keep pinching myself that it’s actually happening. I thought it would never come back.

It’s coming 2nd week of Feb. Should have an actual date later this week. :)

I gave up waiting for them to announce a date for the UK. I seen a few minor spoilers for it through social media and at the risk of any more I just used a VPN to watch it on the Fox website. It was totally worth it.

Thanks for that.

Funnily enough the entire 9 season run of the original X-Files has just appeared on Amazon Prime IV, so I have started watching them all again from the Pilot! Anyway, the 20-episode main arc essential series will still be essential viewing to viewers wanting to remind themselves before the new series run. I was surprised at the quality of the picture & sound of S01E01 from 1993, being in wide screen and 720p HD ready resolution and 5.1 DD+.

Channel 5 had better show this within days of the US or they need not bother as they will have no audience left to watch it, as everyone will download it from the net. They also ought to be showing the 20-episode “essential catch-up” edition NOW, as this ought to be shown before the new episodes.

Well Nigel, you’re in luck. They 20-episode “essential catch-up” are coming to 5* and on demand on the 11th of Jan, before the series starts in Feb.

They’re showing 5 episodes a week Mon-Fri (although it’s 1am so really Tue-Sat) starting with 1-4 & 13 of S1.
So i guess that suggests 2nd week of Feb at the earliest for the new episodes to be shown which would be 2 weeks after the US premiere…
