How Bill Bailey could look as Glóin

Bill Bailey has apparently auditioned for the role of the dwarf Glóin (father of LotR’s Gimli) in The Hobbit – Really, could you get anymore perfect casting. Plus think of the money and time they’d save on not having to use special effects and make up! Just get Bill to grow his beard out a bit, and your all set. ;)

This is the latest news to come regarding the 2 upcoming movie’s based on J.R.R Tolkein’s The Hobbit, which have finally been given the green light and are due to start production in February 2011. Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson has stepped into the directors chair, after original director Guillermo del Toro had to leave the project due to delays caused by MGM’s financial problems.

In other casting news, Michael Fassbender (Lt. Archie Hicox – Inglourious Basterds, Azazeal – Sky1’s Hex), David Tennant (…like i need to tell you who he is), and James Nesbitt (Cold Feet, Murphy’s Law, Jekyll) are all supposedly up for various roles.

As for ‘The Hobbit’ himself – Martin Freeman has stated he had to turn down the role of Bilbo due to the 2nd season of BBC’s Sherlock. He is however, still being touted as the favourite to win the part, but that can only happen if Jackson and The Hobbit team can find a way to work around his existing commitments…

So what do you think? What roles would you like to see people in? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
