Sky have announced Feb 1st as launch date for it’s new channel ‘Sky Atlantic‘, and a pretty knockout lineup of shows over the next few months!
‘Sky Atlantic‘, will launch on the 1st of Feb with the Martin Scorsese’s prohibition era drama Boardwalk Empire starring Steve Buscemi, and Treme, the captivating and soulful drama set in Post-Katrina New Orleans, created by David Simon (The Wire, Generation Kill) and Eric Overmyer (Homicide, Law & Order).
Also on the schedule for Feb is Blue Bloods, a New York police drama starring Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg, HBO comedy-drama How To Make It In America, about 2 enterprising twenty-somethings hustling their way through New York City’s fashion scene, Entourage (season 7), and Weeds (season 4).
April will bring Game of Thrones – a medieval fantasy television series from HBO starring a whole bunch of UK talent including Sean Bean, Mark Addy and (Lily’s lil bro) Alfie Allen. I know there’s a number of you that will be happy to hear Atlantic will be airing In Treatment Season 2 in April too.
The summer will bring season 5 of Mad Men (apologies to the BBC viewers that don’t have Sky…). New series come in the form of The Borgias from Neil Jordan starring Jeremy Irons and Hit and Miss, an original drama from Shameless creator Paul Abbott.
Feb 1st will also bring a bit of an EPG shuffle, with Sky1 staying at 106, Living – renamed Sky Living moving to 107, and Sky Atlantic becoming 108. If you have Sky HD, the HD version of the channel will default to those numbers. Sky2 and 3 will move further up the EPG.
Sky Atlantic will be free to all Sky customers (and the HD version is free in the HD pack). At the moment, it’s NOT available on Virgin… sorry guys…
They’ve really outdone themselves pulling this channel together, it looks like it’s gonna be awesome!
