Orphan Black Picked Up For 5th & Final Season

It’s been a great ride, but BBC America have announced Orphan Black‘s 5th season will be it’s last. Presumably the phenomenal Tatiana Maslany can then take a well deserved nap.

Currently airing on Netflix in the UK, Orphan Black started with a British girl, Sarah Manning (Maslany) seeing someone who appeared to be her doppelgänger, jump in front of a train. Being in some trouble herself, Sarah decides to take over the identity of her unknown twin, only to discover her name is Beth Childs (Maslany), she’s a cop, and it’s not some random coincidence that they look the same…

As the show goes on, more and more clones come out of the woodwork as she fall deeper and deeper down the proverbial rabbit hole… The show centres on a key group of clones Sarah uncovers along the way. Helena (Maslany) the slightly crazy Ukrainian, Cosima (Maslany) the lesbian scientist, and Alison (Maslany), the rather uptight urban housewife. All different, all individual, and often in scenes with each other… If you’ve yet to see the show, go watch it right now on Netflix. Tatiana Maslany’s performance… or rather, performances, are just a tour-de-force of acting ability.

“We are excited to deliver an epic conclusion to the tale of Sarah and her clone sisters.” said co-creators John Fawcett and Graeme Manson. “The past four seasons have been a phenomenal adventure and we are eternally grateful to our loyal fans who have loved the twists and thrills of our weird little show. We are thankful to our partners at Temple Street, and to BBC America and Space for their support and giving us the opportunity to end on a high.”

You can catch the first 4 seasons of Orphan Black on Netflix right now.
