Scream Renewed for A Mini-Season 3

Scream, the tv spin-off of the movie franchise (not to be confused with Ryan Murphy’s Scream Queens), has been picked up for a very short run of 6 episodes for it’s 3rd season it was announced today.

It’s not been smooth sailing for the horror drama, which streams on Netflix in the UK, and things don’t look to be getting any easier. Season 3 will also see another change in showrunners, as season 2’s pair, Michael Gans and Richard Register, will be departing. They were brought in to replace season 1’s showrunners Jill Blotevogal and Jaime Paglia. They have yet to find the people who will take over for the 3rd mini-season.

It’s numbers also haven’t been great for MTV in the US, with season 2 drawing in only half the audience of season 1. Although they haven’t officially said season 3 will be it’s last, but the shortness of the renewal, coupled with ever falling ratings, really doesn’t bode well…

A 2 hour Scream Halloween special is planned for the 18th October in the US, which will land on Netflix on the same day in the UK. Scream Season 3 will air in 2017.
