Adrien Brody Joins Peaky Blinders Season 4

As filming kicks off in Liverpool this week for Peaky Blinders Season 4, the BBC have revealed that Academy Award winning actor Adrien Brody will be joining the cast when the show returns later this year.

His exact role is being kept under wraps for the moment, but he will be joining Cillian Murphy (Inception, Free Fire) who is back as Thomas Shelby head of the Peaky Blinders, along with Helen McCrory (Skyfall), Paul Anderson (The Revenant), Joe Cole (Green Room), Sophie Rundle (Jamestown), Finn Cole (Animal Kingdom), Aimee-Ffion Edwards (Detectorists), and Kate Phillips (The Crown). Tom Hardy also returns as Jewish gang leader Alfie Solomons, alongside series regulars Natasha O’Keefe (Sherlock: The Abominable Bride) and Packy Lee (The Frankenstein Chronicles).

The new season starts with Thomas Shelby receiving a mysterious letter on Christmas Eve, making him realise that the Peaky Blinders are in danger of annihilation. As the enemy closes in, Shelby flees his country house and returns to the streets of Small Heath, Birmingham, where a desperate fight for survival begins.

“It’s fantastic to have Adrien join our team,” commented the show’s creator Steven Knight. “He genuinely was the actor in my head when I wrote the part. I’m sure he will be a formidable presence in the world of the Peaky Blinders.”

Steven Knight now has two hit shows on his hands, after Taboo, which he co-created with Tom & Chip Hardy, got picked up for a 2nd season by the BBC. Peaky Blinders has already been renewed for a 5th season.

As with the previous 2 seasons, the show will have one director for the entire season, and this time round it will be Line Of Duty’s David Caffrey.

We don’t have an exact return date for Peaky Blinders yet, but it’s expected to be later in 2017. Given that the series description mentions it being set on Christmas Eve, that could point to it coming around December, but that is just speculation at the moment.

As an added little bonus, Adrien Brody posted the pic below to his Instagram account yesterday.
