‘Star Trek: Discovery‘ will be launching on Netflix UK, as the streaming service gives the show a UK premiere date of Monday, 25th September 2017, just hours after it’s US premiere. It will start with a double bill, then new episodes will arrive weekly.
It’s taken a while to lock down an air date for the much-anticipated series, after a number of problems behind the scenes forced the show back from it’s original January launch date, then back again from its 2nd launch date in May. Finally, CBS managed to get themselves ‘ship shape’ and settled on an Autumn premiere. The delays had the added advantage of allowing the network to sneak on 2 additional episodes, pushing the 1st season from 13 up to 15, so it wasn’t all bad news!
As happens with a lot of US shows these days, ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Season 1 will split into 2 halves. Part 1 will run straight through until the 5th November, then will break, with part 2 starting in January 2018.
Star Trek is one of the most iconic and influential global television franchises and ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ marks its return to television 50 years after the original series first premiered. ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ will follow the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new life forms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. The series will feature a new ship, new characters and new missions while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.
‘Star Trek: Discovery‘ launches exclusively on Netflix everywhere excluding the U.S. and Canada from Monday, 25th September 2017.
