‘The Originals’ Comes To And End With Season 5

As we head into lots of stories coming from San Diego Comic Con (SDCC), the first news to pop up wasn’t happy, as US network The CW announced Season 5 of The Originals‘ will be it’s last.

Show creator Julie Plec made the announcement on Twitter before heading off to the Con for various panels. One thing fan’s can console themselves with is the fact that they are getting to end the show on their own terms.

“It’s both a gift and a burden to be able to control the ending of a series,” she wrote. “Many shows are not lucky enough to have a hand in deciding when the end has come… Ending a show is always bittersweet, but for me, it’s a true blessing to be a part of making that choice.” You can read her full statement below:

The Originals parent series ‘The Vampire Diaries’ came to an end earlier this year, which places The CW without a Vampire show for the first time in 8 years… That is until their reboot of ‘The Lost Boys‘ gets off the ground…

‘The Originals’ has not had the greatest luck on UK broadcast tv. It was dropped by Syfy after a few seasons, and seems to take forever to pop up on Netflix. We’re expecting Season 4 to arrive on the streaming service in the UK sometime in the next few months.
