Julian McMahon Added To Marvel’s ‘The Runaways’ Cast

Julian McMahon is heading back into comic book territory it has been announced, as he joins the cast of Marvel’s Runaways.

Based on the 2003 comic book by Brian K. Vaughan (Buffy Season 8, Saga) and Adrian Alphona (Ms. Marvel, Uncanny X-Force), Runaways follows a group of teens who, despite their dislike of each other, must band together against a common enemy… Their parents…

When the group discover their various mums & dads are actually part of a super-villain group called ‘The Pride’,  the teens learn their true heritage. Some find they have abilities, whilst others decide to swipe some magical items from their evil parents and set out to defeat them.

McMahon is set to play a character called Jonah. While his origins and ultimate intentions are unknown, he is a pivotal player in the Runaways’ rebellion against their parents. “We’re incredibly excited to add Julian to our exceptional cast and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the world of Marvel’s Runaways,” commented showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage in a statement.

Julian McMahon first popped up on our screens way back in the early 90’s as Ben in ‘Home and Away’. Since then he’s gone on to star in ‘Charmed’, ‘Nip/Tuck’, ‘Hunters’, ‘Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency’, and, of course, playing Victor Von Doom in the original ‘Fantastic Four’ movies.

He will join Rhenzy Feliz (Casual), Lyrica Okano (The Affair), Virginia Gardner (The Goldbergs, Glee), Ariela Barer (New Girl, One Day at a Time), Gregg Sulkin (Faking It, Pretty Little Liars, Wizards of Waverly Place), and Allegra Acosta (100 Things to Do Before High School) who star as the titular ‘Runaways’.

James Marsters (Buffy/Angel, Hawaii Five-0, Smallville), Ever Carradine (Major Crimes, 24, Eureka), Ryan Sands (The Wire, Grimm), Angel Parker (The People v. O.J.), Brittany Ishibashi (This Is Us, Grace and Frankie), James Yaegashi (Daredevil, Bioshock, GTA), Kevin Weisman (Scorpion, The Blacklist, Alias),  Brigid Brannagh (Major Crimes, Angel), and Annie Wersching (The Vampire Diaries, Bosch, 24) star as ‘The Pride’.

Marvel’s Runaways isn’t due to air in the US on Hulu until 21st November 2018, so it’s still a little early for a UK air date, but we’ll let you know when we have something.
